Description
T-Wall for the 457th Transportation Battalion, OIF III
This, t-wall (Texas Barrier or Bremer Wall) was painted by Sgt Julio Hernandez during the units tour in Iraq in 2005. The unit was stationed at LSA Anaconda, later known as Joint Base Balad. It was removed from the base in 2011 and returned to the U.S. aboard the LSV-4. The harsh climate of Iraq has left the lower section unreadable.
There were three basic sizes of barriers used in theater, the 3ft jersey barrier, 12ft Texas Barrier and the 20ft Alaska Barrier. They were a source of unit morale. Units left their mark by painting the barriers in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

'First of many murals I did in Iraq. No materials no paint stores no experiance. Made my own brushes and used gallons of paint with Arabic writing. This mural now rests in fort Eustis Virginia. At the U.S. Army Transportation Museum !! I almost got blown up by a mortar attack while painting this mural. '
